SWORD IN THE ABYSS (SiTA) is a classless tactical TTRPG with flexible systems that allow you to mold your own specialized Champions/Builds/Classes. Creativity and innovation lie at its heart. From the spells and items to the monsters and crafters, SiTA aims to encapsulate the essence of what makes tactical RPGs fun and engaging at the table and beyond.
- Grid Combat: The Battle systems of the game are intended to be played on a grid. Certain elements, such as space and vertically, can be seen as abstract and or game-like, but this was done to maintain balance and depth for those who enjoy tactical combat scenarios.
- Note: You do not need to keep track of how high a creature is, only in which of the three vertical planes it is within. The planes are the Airborne, Grounded, and Submerged, each provides unique interactions with the game's rules.
- Simpler Inventory Management: Instead of keeping track of dozens of small items, you instead have Supplies. Supplies can be converted into common objects of similar weight. They are also used as a resource for crafting, resting and for certain abilities within the game.
- Callings: The Calling system is a way for players and DMs to colorfully bring their characters to life in meaningful ways. They each allow the character in question to do better at certain non combat related tasks. Such as a Thief having better chances at cracking that enchanted lock, if she's a Mage as well, even better!
- Note: A Calling is normally a single word. Examples: Knight, Wizard, Politician and Charismatic.
The intent of the Demo is to allow those interested in SiTA to try Levels 1-3 from the core rules of the game. We wish to gather feedback from the testers, as we believe that the community will allow us to hone our game into a great TTRPG.
- Dark Master Tools within the Core Rules will always remain free, and the features that currently exist for DMs are fully implemented within the Demo.
- There are plans to further develop current DM tools and any new ones we develop!
- Note: This does not include the Monster Library.
- A One-Shot style adventure, named the Tower Of Moons for beginner players and Dungeon Masters.
- A full list of Demo features is included in the downloadable PDF.
A full alpha version of the game will be released some time in the future with the full suit of Levels(1-10). We intend to roll out more content with updates of varying sizes. Once we deem the game finished, a printed and graphically enhanced version will be sold!
